Lifeguard Contract
LIFEGUARD CONTRACT
1. The primary responsibility of the Lifeguard is for the safety of swimmers in the pool and on the pool premises.
2. Lifeguards will wear appropriate attire while on duty. This will include a one (1)-piece bathing suit, as well as an Agua Linda provided visor and Tee shirt.
3. Lifeguard should not socialize, read, eat, be on the phone, or have visitors etc. while there are swimmers in the pool. Lifeguards will call Adult Swim every hour on the hour for duration of ten (10) minutes. During this time the Lifeguards may take a “break” in which they may eat something, go to the bathroom, return phone calls.
4. Lifeguards should be familiar with telephone numbers to call for emergency Assistance: 911, Eden Hospital, Fire Department, Sheriff’s Department, ambulance, PG&E, and EBMUD.
5. Lifeguard must be at the pool on time (clocking in when you are ready to begin your shift) and shall not leave (clock out) until designated by the Board of Directors. If the lifeguard is not able to report for work, or has to leave early, they must contact a Board member as soon as possible so that alternative arrangements may be made.
6. Be familiar with the rules and regulations and ensure that they are followed at all times. At no time should the lifeguard feel threatened in carrying out their duties. If they do feel threatened they should call either a Board Member or the Sheriff’s Department. Should an injury occur requiring medical assistance, the lifeguard should immediately call 911. Each Member family is allowed NOT MORE THAN 4 additional persons (guests) at a given time.
7. Uncover the pool when arriving at the pool if this has not already been done.
8. Make sure the pool is filled halfway up the skimmer..
9. Check pool supplies and advise Board Member if new supplies are needed.
10. Take pool chemical readings at the beginning and end of their shift
11. At times when there are no swimmers in the pool, the lifeguard shall:
a) Pick up any papers and other debris and put in garbage containers. b) Clean the pool tile, if necessary. c) Maintain first aid kit and safety apparatus. d) Skim leaves and other debris off the pool surface. e) Check the bathrooms for cleanliness, and supplies. f) Brush sides of pool. g) Pick up any toys, paddles, etc. that may be left around the pool
12. At the end of the last lifeguard shift make sure that all unsupervised under-age children have left the pool premises, or that a responsible adult member is supervising them. Children age 11 through 15 may not be at the pool alone after 6:00 pm.
13. Prior to leaving hose down the pool apron.
14. Advise the Gate guard of any matters of interest. Should a Gate guard not show up by 6:00 p.m., the lifeguard should call the Director responsible for Gate guards prior to leaving.
I understand and accept all the above responsibilities as a condition of my employment at Agua Linda Swimming Pool.
