President’s Letter

Dear Agua Linda Members,

The Board is grateful to all of you who made last year’s shortened swim season a success in spite of the changes and uncertainties caused by COVID-19. While 2021 certainly will not be a “normal year,” we are confident we can offer a good swimming experience as the season commences, and hopeful that as the year goes on and circumstances allow, we can move back toward more familiar guidelines and practices. [The complete President’s Letter is available on the Members Only page].

End of the 2020 Swim Season

Today at 7 pm, Agua Linda will close for the 2020 season. On behalf of the Board, I want again to thank you all for cooperating so fully with our COVID protocols, and making it possible for us to open in spite of the pandemic. Many of  you have offered to help with year-end tasks, and that is much appreciated, but we don’t know yet what is possible or desirable to attempt at this point. The Board will meet on November 10 to review the year and discuss what steps we should take to prepare for next year amid continuing uncertainty. I’ll update you after that meeting.

In the meantime, I wish your families health and happiness through the holidays and into 2021.

The Pool Season

In this unusual year, and given the continuing warm weather, the pool Board has extended the swimming season until Sunday, November 1. However, if the weather changes and/or attendance falls off significantly, we will close before that date. I will keep you informed about any changes with as much notice as possible. In the meantime, enjoy your time in the pool!

Air Quality Watch

Please check in on the “members only” page to check if the pool will be open.

Update: Unfortunately, the air will not be clear enough today (Oct 2) for the pool to open. The forecast is for high AQI through tomorrow. We will constantly monitor the air quality and inform you tomorrow morning whether opening is possible. Thank you all for your patience in this very difficult time.

Update: The AQI has risen over 150 so we will close today at 4 o’clock. We will monitor the air again in the following days.

Air quality today (Oct 1) is not good over Castro Valley. The pool will open according to schedule but we will monitor the air and may close on short notice if the AQI (air quality index) rises close to 150 (unhealthy/red range). If you have a reservation today (and perhaps the next few days), check the web site schedule and e-mail before you come in.
